The Position
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Roche Diagnostics Australia is looking for a Field Service Engineer with specific experience working with Mass Spectrometry. As a Field Service Engineer, you are responsible for performing the field service activities for all our Diagnostics portfolios with a primary focus on Mass Spectrometry, by provision and coordination of all activities relating to instrument installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, software and hardware modifications, and both pre, during and post sales requirements. Service will need to be performed locally, interstate, and including travel overseas to support Roche Diagnostics New Zealand when needed.
This service is performed on a 9‐am to 5‐pm, Monday to Friday schedule. You will also be asked to participate in an on‐call roster to cover out‐of‐hours service requirements from 5 pm to 9 am on weekdays and 24 hours weekends.
Field Service Engineers are required to actively collaborate with the local account management teams and to participate in local and national team meetings.
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a proactive mindset, who enjoys working collaboratively in a close team environment and is capable of working fully independently.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide outstanding quality instrument service and support, timely, to meet the high standards expected by our customers of Roche and the products we supply and support.
* Responsible for the timely pre‐installation inspection and installation of Roche and other analytical systems working with the Regional Engineering Manager, Application Specialist, Project Lead, Solutions Manager, and Local Account Management Team to ensure successful installations occur.
* Ensure all Preventative Maintenance is carried out in a timely manner as per the manufacturer's guidelines.
* Ensure any ongoing instrument problems or issues are communicated to relevant leadership and staff.
* Accurately capture and report all field activities undertaken, including all labour and travel incurred via CRM system in a timely manner.
* Complete all mandatory training by the due date and comply with all Roche processes as documented in policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with and promotion of all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of all employees and visitors.
Who You Are:
* Tertiary biomedical engineering or equivalent qualification with 3+ years of experience in field services engineering, ideally with specialist Mass Spectrometry knowledge and hands‐on experience.
* Experience with Lab IT and middleware systems.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment and handle multiple projects.
* Availability to travel locally, regionally, nationally and internationally as required.
* Capable of building and maintaining strong internal and external partnerships.
* Passion for digital transformation and process enhancement.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset.
* Customer‐service orientation and result‐focused professional with strong business acumen.
