Role Purpose:
Employed by MSX International and operating within the GM ANZ Academy framework, the Technical Developer plays a critical role in designing and delivering innovative technical training solutions for GM ANZ dealership technicians. This role ensures all training content and activities meet GM standards, enhance technician capability, and support service excellence across the dealer network.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Development
- Create and update training materials, including digital participant guides, presentations, dealer articles, and e-learning storyboards aligned with GM ANZ client requirements.
- Develop quizzes, exams, and practical assessments to evaluate technician learning and certification levels.
- Review and edit technical training materials for accuracy, clarity, and instructional effectiveness.
Practical Training Support
- Design and update ‘on-car’ activities that reinforce classroom theory and engage technicians.
- Develop setup guides for trainers to ensure consistent course delivery across training centers.
- Work closely with Instructional Designers, Master Technical Trainers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver client-specific technical training programs.
- Assist in training sessions as a technical resource, providing clarification and additional insights when required.
- Actively participate in Train-the-Trainer events, workshops, and personal development activities.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new GM vehicle models through research and analysis.
- Maintain a performance-oriented culture and contribute to an ecosystem that promotes innovation and new ideas.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, CAN Bus, electrical systems, and strategy-based diagnosis.
- Strong understanding of modern automotive technologies such as hybrid/electric systems, advanced safety systems, and infotainment.
- High-voltage automotive systems experience preferred but not essential.
- Practical experience in automotive repair and diagnostics to connect theory with real-world application.
- Familiarity with instructional design principles for creating engaging and effective training materials.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and multimedia applications.
- Experience with GM vehicles, diagnostic tools, and GM-specific software systems (e.g., Service Information, GDS2, SPS).
Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (preferred but not essential).
- Experience in curriculum development or technical training delivery will be highly regarded.
