Responsibilities
Tasks will include characterising bacterial communities using anaerobic microbiological techniques, bioreactor and in vitro cell culture models, genome, metagenomic sequencing and metabolomics while also contributing to the management of the laboratory's gastrointestinal microbiota culture collection.
Required Qualifications
* An Honours, Masters or relevant work experience with proven laboratory experience
* Experience in standard microbiology techniques
* Knowledge of molecular biology and related techniques
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
Beneficial Skills
* Experience in the growth of fastidious, anaerobic bacteria
* An understanding of high throughput sequencing technologies
* Experience with bioreactor systems and/or microfluidic platforms
* Familiarity with metabolomics or proteomics
* Knowledge of biologically relevant statistics
Employment Terms
This is a fixed term contract role until the end of February 2027 with the possibility of being extended. The role is full time. Salary is based on Research Support Staff RSS X. Superannuation of 12% and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
