Orpheus Island Lodge – Maintenance Allrounder
Located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Orpheus Island Lodge is an exclusive private island retreat accommodating just 28 guests. Surrounded by pristine reef and national park, the lodge operates in a remote environment where infrastructure reliability and self‐sufficiency are critical to guest experience.
Role Overview
This is not a standard maintenance role. You will be involved in the upkeep and basic operation of a wide range of island infrastructure and plant, including:
* Desalination plant and potable water systems
* Diesel generators and solar infrastructure
* Pumps, irrigation and water transfer systems
* Marine assets including outboards and tenders
* Telehandler and buggies
* General plant and equipment across the island
In addition, you will manage day‐to‐day lodge maintenance, including:
* Patching, painting and minor carpentry repairs
* Door hardware including locks and handles
* Plumbing maintenance including blockages, leaks and fixture replacements
* Basic electrical troubleshooting and lighting replacement
* Minor repairs to kitchen and operational equipment
* Grounds presentation and general upkeep
What we're looking for
* Can work safely at heights and undertake manual handling tasks
* Is organised, can prioritise and work independently
* Takes pride in attention to detail
* Is highly practical and solutions‐focused, able to implement temporary fixes when required
* Brings a broad skillset across multiple trades (trade qualified or strong all‐rounder)
* Has experience in remote operations, marine environments, or similar (preferred)
