Job DescriptionOur Rail Team in Sydney has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Traction Power / HV Electrical Engineer, to join our high performing team in New South Wales. We currently have opportunities for exciting engineering roles on large infrastructure design and planning projects in Sydney and across Australia including passenger transit rail (metro and heavy rail), light rail, and freight rail. The Senior Engineer role provides technical support to our project leaders and to strengthen our professional and technical staff on complex, multi-disciplinary projects that deliver high-standard outcomes for AECOM clients. The role also provides the opportunity to be involved in client liaison, business development, and winning work. As a Senior Professional, we also provide mentoring and career development from other team members but that you will also be mentoring and supporting more junior members within the team. We require you to use your skills and initiative in developing design solutions, collaborate with other parties, and to produce project deliverables to agreed deadlines and standards. Managing the planning and programming of rail engineering design activities to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
Coordinating rail design meetings, integrating with other engineering disciplines such as civil, bridges, utilities, drainage, and roads.
QualificationsAs a Senior Electrical Engineer, we would expect you to have:
Relevant Electrical Engineering Degree – Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred.
Appropriate years' experience within the electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary rail projects.
Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience, with specialization in Traction Power Design being highly regarded.
Experience and understanding in applying railway technical standards (e.g. TfNSW, Sydney Trains, MTM, QR, ARTC).
Knowledge of rail power systems, such as 25kV AC, 1500V DC, 750V DC, Heavy Rail, and Light Rail.
Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings. CAD (AutoCAD or Microstation) experience preferred but not essential.
Be a Chartered Engineer or be working towards a Chartered Engineer (EA, or other recognized Professional body).
Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card.
