Drill Fitter Role Overview
The Drill Fitter is a pivotal member of the team responsible for maintaining and servicing drill rigs and equipment. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our assets.
* Forecast upcoming services and communicate with project managers at scheduled meetings to ensure timely execution.
* Identify priority repairs and maintenance of plant and equipment, developing plans to rectify in consultation with project managers and drilling operations managers.
* Utilize MacGeo Fleet Maintenance Management Software to communicate with operations managers (drilling and project) effectively.
* Organize and procure necessary parts and equipment for defect rectification and servicing.
* Provide assistance and guidance to field crew in relation to breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal productivity.
* Conduct servicing, preventative maintenance, and repairs on assets (trucks, drill rigs, low-voltage equipment, and small motors).
* Complete associated documentation with respect to repairs, maintenance, and services, adhering to industry standards and company policies.
* Support and train field personnel in correct preventative maintenance and servicing practices, enhancing overall knowledge and competence.
* Manage and assist external maintenance contractors, bookings, or inspections as required.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Heavy diesel fitter or equivalent trade certificate
* A heavy diesel background is essential for this role
* Minimum HR truck licence (preferred but not essential)
* National Construction Induction Card (white card)
* Currency of current first aid certificate (preferred but not essential)
* Current and valid RISI certification (preferred but not essential)
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical inclusive of D&A test
* Ability to obtain a police clearance upon request
