The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our growing People & Culture team, which is made up of people advisory/business partnering, organsiational development and talent acquisition.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager of People & Culture, who is also based in Adelaide, you will play a key role in shaping and driving our national ER and IR strategy within a values driven and collaborative business. This position will partner closely with business leaders, P&C;, and operational teams across the country to build strong employee relationships, minimise industrial risk, and maintain constructive engagement with union and workforce representatives.
Our culture is centred on direct, open communication between employees and leaders and the ER Manager will guide and empower leaders to engage directly with their people, supported by proactive employee relations frameworks and sound industrial strategies.
Key areas of accountability include:
Developing and executing our national ER and IR strategy to support a high-performance, inclusive culture.
Coaching and advising leaders and P&C; team members on employee relations matters, including complex cases, investigations, and workplace issues.
Building trusted relationships with union representatives, balancing compliance with collaboration to avoid disputes and maintain a positive working environment.
Leading enterprise agreement negotiations and drafting, ensuring state-by-state compliance and alignment with business objectives.
Advising on tenders, procurement processes, and project-specific IR considerations to mitigate risk and stay ahead of emerging industrial issues.
Leading the development and maintenance of ER policies, procedures, and consultation frameworks.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Previous experience in employment law supporting heavy industrial organisations.
- Qualifications in either Human Resources, Industrial Relations Management, Legal, or a related field.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills, with the ability to coach and empower leaders to manage people issues effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations principles, employment law, and enterprise agreements
- Experience in policy development, strategy and tender support
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in gathering and analysing information to facilitate a thoughtful and strategic decision-making process, especially in complex situations
