Primary objective
Work as part of the corporate communications team that leads, develops and implements internal and external communication
strategies and media activities to achieve departmental goals.
Context statement
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality is an exciting portfolio that encompasses Tourism NT, Licensing NT, Parks and Wildlife
and Screen NT. There is also an integration with major events on the agenda for 2025. It is a dynamic environment with several
portfolio areas.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work on a variety of corporate communications tasks ensuring alignment with the agency's objectives, priorities, and
government directions.
2. Coordinate and implement internal and external communications projects, working with senior executives and key
stakeholders.
3. Work as part of the team to develop and execute communication activities pertaining to the Staff Engagement Framework,
boosting internal communication efforts.
4. Identify and leverage proactive communications opportunities to enhance the agency's reputation and strengthen stakeholder
engagement.
5. Provide support to other team members in executing communications plans.
6. Contribute to the communications forecast and create a range of social media posts for different channels.
7. Work on staff induction activities and ensure the department Intranet is up to date with fresh and engaging content.
8. Ensure programs meet and adhere to Northern Territory Government branding, digital, communication and procurement
policies and guidelines.
9. Support preparedness communications activities, responding in a positive, calm and flexible manner to change and uncertainty.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in communications, with demonstrated success in managing a range of communications.
2. Extensive experience in writing, editing and producing a range of communication materials tailored to diverse audiences and
platforms.
1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different stakeholders, translating
complex information into clear, accessible language.
1. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, conflicting workloads while maintaining attention to detail and achieving timely,
effective outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
1. Proven ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments to achieve positive outcomes.
2. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
1. Relevant experience and or qualifications.
