The role of Cultural Fire Practitioner involves implementing Cultural Burning practices to enhance natural and cultural health of specific environments. This includes working with teams to facilitate the accomplishment of cultural fire goals.
Key responsibilities include:
* Participating in the preparation and execution of Cultural Burns,
* Undertaking vegetation management, including weed control and mowing,
* Maintenance of equipment,
* Managing culturally significant sites according to strategies and goals,
* Reporting risks or issues related to estates and assets of indigenous communities,
This role also involves building and maintaining relationships with staff, community members and agencies, as well as contributing to community events to educate and raise awareness of traditional owner interests and objectives for Cultural Burning.
In addition, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Cultural Burning practices and/or fire management, and be able to build and maintain positive relationships with other staff and stakeholders.
