About the role:
Your main responsibility will be the reprocessing, safe handling and maintenance of flexible endoscopes used within the unit, under the supervision of our Director of Nursing.
Ideally you will have:
Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or Sterilisation Services
Recent experience as an AIN in a hospital or day procedure environment
Recent experience in an Endoscopy setting or Central Sterilising Department (highly desirable)
Evidence of vaccination (or willingness to be vaccinated) against the following - Measles Mumps & Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B. Evidence of Tuberculosis screening, or willingness to screen may be required to identity if Tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
You will be expected to:
Assist and support nursing staff in the provision of quality care to clients undergoing endoscopic procedures
Gain a working knowledge of relevant standard AS 5369:2023 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and non-health related facilities and follow existing infection control principles to meet this standard
Work collaboratively with nursing staff to plan workloads and prioritise activities
Support work unit processes by setting up equipment, cleaning patient equipment and any other delegated tasks to assist clients pre and post procedurally
Communicate actions and outcomes of delegated tasks to nursing staff
Participate in clinical, professional and organisational training and learning activities to improve self development and health outcomes to clients
Adhere to Workplace Health & Safety regulations by following unit policies and procedures relating to disinfection of reusable medical devices and handling of cleaning agents used
Identify, respond and report risks to facilitate a protected working environment
