About the Role:
The Student Support Coordinator will ensure that students undertaking the Aboriginal Health Practitioner and other qualifications, participating in supervised clinical placements, are culturally safe, supported, and work-ready. The support provided will vary based on individual needs. The successful applicant must be able to undertake travel and hold an unrestricted driver’s license.
What You Need to Succeed
Provide support services to ensure students are culturally safe and supported to complete their qualifications and clinical placements, including:
* Brokerage between the Registered Training Organization (RTO), DDHS, and students.
* Social and emotional well-being support for trainees and students.
* Attendance support, especially in balancing work and study commitments across various clinic locations.
* Cultural mentoring.
* Implementing and advocating for students’ Individual Learning Support Plans, including tutoring and ongoing mentoring.
* Monitoring the progress of Trainee Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other students during clinical placements.
* Coordinating logistics with the RTO, including travel, accommodation, and allowances.
* Conducting community and employer site visits as needed.
* Engaging with employers, students, and the community.
* Reporting on student outcomes to NACCHO and the Santos Foundation.
* Promoting the First Nations Health Worker Traineeship Program.
* Linking students with supports and referrals.
* Participating in committees focused on student professional development.
* Overseeing the Aboriginal Health Practitioner Traineeship Program and quality improvement initiatives.
* Supporting the Learning and Development Advisor in sourcing additional training opportunities.
