Our client is a design studio based in Melbourne's inner south-east, renowned for producing high-caliber corporate communications and reporting suites. They are looking for a meticulous freelance Finished Artist to support them through their peak reporting season, focusing on a variety of reporting projects and collateral.
The Role
We need a heavyweight Finished Artist who lives and breathes long-form documents. This isn't a role for a generalist; you need to love the precision, speed, and strict attention to detail that high-end corporate reporting demands.
This requires someone who can pivot quickly between projects while maintaining absolute precision, speed, and strict attention to detail across every asset.
Key Responsibilities & Required Skills
Because annual reports are a unique beast, we are looking for a specialist who brings the following to the table:
* Advanced Style Sheets & Text Flow: Absolute mastery of InDesign style sheets (including character, paragraph, and nested styles) to maintain flawless brand consistency across multiple separate documents.
* Tracked Changes & Text Updates: Deeply familiar with the realities of corporate client edits. You must be highly proficient at executing rapid-fire updates in InDesign directly from heavily tracked Word documents.
* Data & Graph Creation: Beyond just cleaning up files, you have the ability to build accurate graphs and charts from scratch within Adobe Illustrator using raw client data.
* Interactivity: Experience building digital-ready documents, utilizing InDesign's interactive features (hyperlinks, bookmarks, navigation) for final digital PDF delivery.
* Agility & Version Control: Smaller jobs mean faster moving parts. You must have an eagle eye for detail and a bulletproof system for managing updates across concurrent projects.
Logistics & Availability
* Timing: You must be fully available for the duration of July (expecting 20–30 hours per week).
* June/August: Ideally, you have the capacity to pick up a day or two in late June for onboarding/kick-off, and early August for wrap-up.
* Setup: The client prefers a hybrid approach. You'll need the flexibility to work in-house at their inner south-east studio for the initial stages of the project to get aligned with the team, with the option for off-site/remote work as the project progresses.
