The service provides 24‑hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care services.
The Role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant plays a key role in advancing clinical practice within the Emergency Department. The successful incumbent will provide expert guidance, leadership, and education to nursing staff while supporting service development, quality improvement initiatives, and patient‑centred care. You will work collaboratively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of care are consistently achieved. Your expertise will be vital in driving service development, quality improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture that values patient safety and continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and current NSW Driver’s License.
- Minimum five years full‑time equivalent post‑registration experience, with at least three years full‑time equivalent experience in Emergency Nursing and postgraduate qualifications in Critical Care or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
- Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports, patients and consumers.
- Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
- Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence‑based research.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
- Ability to apply clinical expertise in patient‑centred consultancy with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
