This isn't a stepping stone. It's a cornerstone.
At zero2hero, we're building the next version of ourselves — and not by chance.
We are entering an ambitious growth phase, with a clear plan to significantly increase and diversify our revenue over the next three years.
Not bigger for the sake of bigger. Bigger because more young people need us.
We are looking for a Chief Development Officer who is not just "does fundraising", does not thrive in strategy days only, and does not need constant direction.
We need someone with commercial discipline, marketing smarts, serious relationship skills and a very human heart.
No pressure. Actually, some pressure. The good kind, the kind the ideal candidate thrives in.
About the role
This is a senior executive leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO and leading zero2hero's growth portfolio across fundraising, philanthropy, corporate partnerships, government opportunities, marketing, events, campaigns and revenue systems.
You will lead the team and strategy that helps zero2hero grow sustainably, diversify income and build long‐term value across our supporter, partner and donor base.
This role is about building something scalable and sustainable — without losing the heart, energy and trust that make zero2hero special.
Who are we?
Zero2hero educates, engages and empowers young people to positively manage their mental health and support others to do the same.
Through programs, camps, events and partnerships, we help young people build the skills, confidence and language to support themselves and their mates.
We are also a hardworking, slightly quirky bunch of Heroes who care deeply, move quickly and hold ourselves 100% accountable.
If you need beige, painfully corporate and slow‐moving, we may not be your people.
What you will lead Growth strategy
Build and deliver a revenue growth strategy across philanthropy, major giving, corporate partnerships, government opportunities, campaigns, events, regular giving and fee‐for‐service.
Fundraising and development
Strengthen the systems, relationships, rhythm and discipline required to grow sustainable income, including donor pathways, major giving, trusts and foundations, supporter journeys and stewardship.
Partnerships
Work closely with the CEO to cultivate and grow high‐value corporate, philanthropic and government relationships, shaping the opportunity, the ask, the follow‐up and the long‐term value.
Marketing and conversion
Lead marketing and communications so zero2hero's strong brand continues to translate into meaningful engagement, support and revenue.
Events and campaigns
Oversee the strategy behind key fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they are aligned, well‐positioned and contributing to broader growth.
Team leadership and systems
Lead the marketing, fundraising, partnerships and events team, bringing clarity, accountability, energy and structure. Strengthen CRM use, pipelines, supporter journeys, proposals, reporting, forecasting and impact storytelling.
Who you are
You know how to take momentum and turn it into structure. You can see the opportunity, build the plan, lead the team and stay close enough to the work to make sure it actually happens.
You are strategic, but not allergic to detail. Polished, but not precious. Commercial, but not transactional. Ambitious, but deeply values‐led.
You can sit with CEOs, board members, philanthropists, government stakeholders and senior executives — and you can also roll up your sleeves when something needs to get done.
What we're looking for
* Senior experience across fundraising, development, partnerships, philanthropy, marketing, business development, sponsorship or commercial growth
* A track record of building, leading or scaling teams through growth, change or complexity
* Strong commercial acumen across pipeline management, forecasting, negotiation, proposals and reporting
* Confidence working with CEOs, boards, executives, funders, donors and senior partners
* Strong communication skills and the ability to turn complex work into a clear and compelling case for support
* Experience leading people, setting standards and holding a team accountable
* Comfort working with targets, ambiguity and high expectations
* A Working With Children Check, National Police Clearance and valid WA driver's licence, or the ability to obtain them
* A background in the not‐for‐profit sector is valued, but not essential. We care more about how you think, lead, build relationships and deliver results than whether your career has followed a traditional path.
You will thrive here if you are
* Highly autonomous. Disciplined. Accountable. Commercially sharp. Relationship‐led.
* Comfortable with targets. Calm under pressure. Good with ambiguity. Hardworking and hands‐on.
* Values‐aligned with youth mental health. A doer, not just a thinker.
You will not thrive here if you need constant direction, avoid accountability, dislike targets, have never managed a team, are too salesy, too corporate, or too removed from the work.
What we offer
A genuine executive leadership role. A direct line to the CEO. A seat at the table shaping future strategy. A clear mandate to lead growth, development, marketing, partnerships and events.
A strong salary package, generous NFP salary packaging, flexibility, autonomy, trust and a West Perth base.
Most importantly, you will work with an amazing bunch of Heroes on something that genuinely matters.
To apply
Tell us about a time you took strong commercial, philanthropic, marketing or relationship momentum and built the structure, rhythm and data discipline needed to significantly increase its value.
We are not after a stock‐standard cover letter. Give us insight into how you think, lead and build.
Please do not send us polished executive fog... talk to us like a person.
Your application will include the following questions:
* Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia?
* Do you have a current Working With Children (WWC) Check?
* What's the largest size team you have managed?
* Have you completed a qualification in commerce?
* Do you have experience leading agile teams?
