Commercial and Regulatory Director
Our client is a statutory NSW government body that oversees a private/public consortium and is building and operating five renewable energy zones (solar, wind farms and energy storage) and connecting those to the NSW electricity grid.
Key accountabilities:
* Manage the commercial risk of the Renewable Energy Network Infrastructure Project Deed (RNI), the TNA Project Deed (the main contractual document for this transmission project), and other significant contract agreements
* Provide strategic commercial advice to the Executive Project Director
* The projects operate under NSW's Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, with the deeds providing the commercial and operational framework for the projects
* Coordinate commercial resources
* Manage working relationships with the contractor/s in a high‑pressure environment (unique contract that is modelled off a PPP but in a regulated environment)
* Meet the requirements for governance, reporting, risk management, confidentiality and probity
Essential skills and experience:
* Experience in a similar senior role on a large infrastructure project, on either the client or contractor side
* Management of large claims ($50‑100+M) to closure
* Familiarity with the renewable energy sector, including knowledge of infrastructure projects and regulatory requirements is an advantage
* Proven ability to understand and apply commercial, legal and regulatory frameworks
* Experience managing teams and strategic direction of workload
* Detailed understanding of commercial and regulatory risk
* Must have a claims avoidant attitude and be eager to support the contractor/s to succeed; with a fair and reasonable approach to contract management
* Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering, business, legal, project management; or a related field.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
