**About the facility**
Barwon Health Palliative Care provides palliative care nursing, medical, allied health and volunteer services within a framework of integrated health service involving close collaboration between community, inpatient as well as an acute consultative service.
The model of palliative care is based on level of need and targets patients with complex care needs.
The Community Palliative Care team is based at the McKellar Centre.

**About the role**
As the Dietitian (Grade 3) you will act as a high-functioning team-member working as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing patient centred, evidence-based dietetic care to patients of the palliative care program.
The position will operate according to relevant legislation, Barwon Health policies, program and department guidelines to support patients and carers to achieve optimum health outcomes via:
- Leading development and delivery of high quality, client centred care within the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
- Teaching, supervising and supporting other dietitians and students.
- Continuously monitoring, analysing and developing services through Quality Improvement and/or Research activities.
All activities of the position will reflect current best practice and professional standards for Nutrition & Dietetics.
This role will be based primarily at the McKellar Centre and will involve participation of provision of care across a range of settings including, inpatients, outpatient and community (including home visits).
The role will also require flexibility in availability to support service delivery initiatives.

Essential: Eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia (DA)
Essential: Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status
Essential: Minimum of 7 years post graduate clinical experience
Essential: Clinical experience working as a dietitian with palliative care clients across inpatients, outpatients and/or community settings
Essential: Previous experience in supervising both Dietetic students and Grade 1 & 2 dietitians
Essential: Ability to work very effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive team environment
Essential: Ability to manage a demanding work load and prioritise accordingly
Essential: Ability to differentiate, accept and exercise appropriate mechanisms of internal and external communication and accountability
Essential: A current Victorian Driver’s License
Desirable: Post-graduate qualifications in relevant area
Desirable: Previous experience with group education of patients/clients
Desirable: Prior research or special project experience
Desirable: Experience with multidisciplinary team management - cancer cachexia
Desirable: At least 5 years experience at senior clinician level
