About the Opportunity
Join our team at Wollongong Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Technician in Anatomical Pathology on a permanent full‐time basis. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high‐quality diagnostic services through specimen preparation, laboratory processing, and support of pathologists in delivering accurate and timely results. You will work in a collaborative, professional environment with modern facilities, playing a vital role in patient care across the Illawarra region.
What You'll Be Doing
* Perform a range of laboratory investigations, tests (manual and automated), and technical tasks in accordance with established methods, procedures, and protocols.
* Undertake Anatomical Pathology specific duties including tissue embedding, microtomy, special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC), ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
* Coordinate and manage send‐away testing, including specimen preparation, documentation, and tracking in accordance with laboratory and referral requirements.
* Prepare reagents and materials and maintain and troubleshoot equipment, ensuring compliance with established laboratory processes and protocols.

Qualifications
* Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
* Demonstrated knowledge and hands‐on experience in delivering efficient, high‐quality services within an Anatomical Pathology department.
* Ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines and work autonomously.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills, including effective interaction with customers, patients and laboratory staff.
* Sound computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems.
* Initiative, problem‐solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex laboratory issues.
* Commitment to quality management, continuous improvement and service quality enhancement.
