This position forms part of the Bureau’s national Flood Warning Network (FWN) team, responsible for management of an extensive network of flood warning assets across Australia. This network is critical for the provision of timely flood warnings for the safety of the Australian public. The team provides a focal point for technical leads maintaining the flood warning infrastructure in each of the Bureau’s Observing Operations Hubs across Australia and is responsible for coordination of maintenance, sustainment, and improvement activities across the Flood Warning network. The role reports to the Flood Warning Network Manager.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
1. Asset and Data Management: Support the uplift of Flood Warning asset information in the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS). Establish standard jobs and work orders for standard flood network maintenance. Develop EAMS inspection forms to facilitate mobile collection of high value field data to inform network improvement activities.
2. Project planning and tracking: Coordinate information gathering and site condition assessments to assist infrastructure upgrade planning. Review results and develop proposed delivery schedules for upgrade and maintenance activities in liaison with relevant
teams. Track and report on the progress of scheduled activities for the network manager.
3. Reporting: Generate and refine reporting on the performance of FWN assets utilising EAMS and PowerBI reporting tools to enable data-drive decision making. Drafting reports on state
of the assets, results of surveys and analysis and the progress of project activities.
4. National coordination: Enable national consistency by developing standard process documentation with stakeholders in Flood forecasting, engineering and operations. Maintain the Flood Warning Networks SharePoint page with relevant content to drive operational efficiencies and facilitate national information sharing.
5. Administrative support: Schedule meetings for flood warning leads meetings and other relevant forums. Track actions and take initiative to develop solutions to network issues or escalate for attention where required. Assist flood network manager with upkeep of a national flood warning network risk register.
6. Logistics: Co-ordinate logistical support for the Flood Warning Network operations, with oversight of the central supply of required equipment and materials to operate the network. Run or arrange procurements required to support the network in liaison with purchasing support teams.
7. Cross-team Coordination: Liaise closely with other teams in the Bureau to ensure effective coordination between groups and projects in support of the flood warning network.
8. Workplace Health, Safety and Workplace: Comply with Bureau WHS procedures, support Bureau WHS initiatives, and keep your own state of knowledge current in line with the industry state of knowledge for your role. Assist managing environmental compliance for flood warning stations including development of Environmental Management Plan.
Eligibility
• Experience with installation and maintenance of FWN infrastructure and communication variants.
• Proficient in the use of EAMS.
• Experience with FWN software applications. Have current ARRO competencies.
• Completion of or currently enrolled in NWPSS00013 Hydrometric Monitoring Basics or NWP50118 Diploma of Water Industry Operations (Hydrometric Operations).
