About the Position

The Cafe Manager is a pivotal full‐time leadership role responsible for the overall daily operation and performance of D'lights Café. This position provides hands‐on direction to the front‐of‐house and kitchen teams, ensuring every guest receives outstanding food quality, presentation, and service in our scenic waterfront location. The role carries significant responsibility for staff leadership, operational efficiency, financial control, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the management team, the Cafe Manager is essential to maintaining D'lights Café's strong local reputation, controlling costs, supporting business growth, and fostering the positive, professional team culture that underpins our success.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee the daily operations of the café to ensure smooth, efficient, and high‐quality service.
* Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and service standards, and implement improvements where required.
* Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, food hygiene, and licensing regulations.
* Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor café staff to build a capable, motivated, and customer‐focused team.
* Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage while optimising labour costs.
* Deliver and model exceptional customer service, promptly and professionally resolving complaints and service issues.
* Manage cash handling procedures, including reconciliation and banking, with accuracy and accountability.
* Assist with budget preparation, achievement of financial targets, and control of labour and operational costs.
* Order food, beverages, and supplies from approved suppliers and monitor inventory levels to minimise wastage.
* Assist with the development and implementation of promotional activity, marketing campaigns, and new menu items.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with regular customers and implement improvements based on feedback.
* Ensure all staff follow workplace policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.

Requirements

* Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
* A Diploma in Hospitality or an equivalent qualification is required.
* A minimum of three years' relevant experience in café or hospitality management is essential.
* Strong leadership, organisational, and team management skills, together with excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
* Sound knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety regulations.
* Proficiency in cash handling, budgeting, inventory control, and roster management.
* Capacity to work effectively in a busy, customer‐facing hospitality environment while driving continuous improvement.
