The Casualty & Cyber Treaty Underwriting team specialises in the technical risk assessment and monitoring of long‐tail and cyber lines of business of our reinsurance clients.
Providing technical support that complements our client management services, maintaining portfolio quality and executing the team's underwriting objectives form part of our key activities.
The team is part of the Non-Life Team based in Sydney and works in close collaboration with other local business units. We are also part of Munich Re's worldwide UW community, giving you access to underwriting experts globally.
Your Role
* Apply strong technical skills and underwriting knowledge of the exposed risks and implementing the most appropriate approach for risk assessment and pricing
* Responsible for underwriting activities across the whole end‐to‐end process
* Strengthen existing client relationships and develop new ones to achieve expected growth and profit contribution in conjunction with the Client Management team
* Support new business opportunities by understanding the client's needs and translating the risk into value
* Support new product innovation and enhancement both within the MR Group and with the client base
* Identify market weaknesses and take action to provide solutions
* Ensure data quality in underwriting platforms of allocated accounts to enable adequate reporting and monitoring activities
* Contribute to continuous improvement of the team's underwriting approach.
* Perform internal controls effectively, efficiently and economically
* Develop and maintain market profile and visibility
Your Profile
* Experience at underwriter level in reinsurance, demonstrating good understanding of the risk exposure and appropriate methodology to assess the exposure. 3-5 years of experience as a Casualty Treaty Underwriter is preferred.
* In the absence of Casualty Treaty RI‐UW experience: Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Primary market underwriting focusing on corporate, or commercial general liability or professional liability risks, plus strong foundations in RI treaty structures and pricing methodologies.
* Strong analytical skill set.
* Good interpersonal and effective organisational skills.
* ANZIIF membership (preferred) or equivalent.
* Tertiary qualification in legal studies (preferred) or equivalent.
