Research Engineer – Embedded Systems Engineer
We are looking for a highly motivated research engineer to join the Research and Development team at the Reserve Bank of Australia, located in Craigieburn, Victoria. This permanent role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining banknote authentication detectors and quality assurance devices, reporting to the manager of the R&D projects team.
Responsibilities
* Develop software for embedded systems, including writing, debugging, and optimizing code for microcontrollers and other hardware.
* Design, fabricate, and assemble electronic and optoelectronic components and systems.
* Design and assemble printed circuit boards.
* Debug and troubleshoot electronics.
* Connect and set up devices on networks.
Qualifications & Experience
* Extensive knowledge in embedded system software development – minimum 5 years of experience.
* Experience in the design, fabrication, and assembly of electronic and optoelectronic components – minimum 5 years of experience.
* Bachelor's degree in electronic/mechatronics engineering or an equivalent field.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and hardware description languages such as VHDL.
* Skills in electronics design packages (e.g., Altium).
* Experience with electronics assembly tools (oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, soldering equipment, reflow ovens).
* Highly competent communication skills – both written and verbal.
