About Us
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy, and processes, and partnering with the department to build capability.
The Finance Branch leads the department\'s efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture of strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department\'s financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.
The Role
This role is a development opportunity for those interested in understanding financial governance within a public sector context, working directly with senior leaders to drive initiatives to improve governance and operations.
Some Of Your Duties Will Include
- Leading the development and implementation of finance governance, strategy, and policies that support cohesive branch operations and direction.
- Embedding risk culture and mindset to guide risk appetite to maximise ROI responsibly, and implement strategies to proactively manage risk and issues.
- Driving development and maintenance of a robust financial governance structure that supports the Chief Finance Officer to better consider and manage the impact of Victorian Government policy and priorities on responsible financial management.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience with producing compelling business products within a government context.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated achievement in the development and delivery of risk management and governance in a complex organisation.
- Proven experience leading a business area to achieve results through change or ambiguity.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering organisational wide strategies or delivering large scale projects to achieve business-critical outcomes.
