About The Role
The Systems Engineering Team Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of engineering artefacts throughout the product lifecycle.
This position blends technical expertise with strategic oversight, guiding investigations, documentation, and compliance with engineering standards.
It involves planning and monitoring engineering activities, making multi-domain decisions, and maintaining secure technical records.
The Team Lead also mentors staff, drives process improvements, and contributes to business development through bid preparation and stakeholder engagement.
With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and collaboration, this role is essential to building and sustaining Babcock's engineering capability.
About You
* You have a strong foundation in systems engineering, with experience and confidence to lead a multidisciplinary team through complex technical challenges.
* Your background includes planning and delivering engineering activities across the full lifecycle, producing and reviewing high-quality documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and statutory regulations.
* You're comfortable making decisions that span multiple engineering domains and have a solid grasp of design, analysis, manufacturing, and support techniques.
* You're a capable communicator, able to present technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
* Beyond technical expertise, you're committed to mentoring others, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to sustainable, innovative solutions that benefit both the organisation and the wider community.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
* Australian Citizenship with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one)
* An accredited bachelor's degree in engineering or recognised engineering qualifications
* Membership of a relevant engineering body, preferably with chartered status
* Demonstrated relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles
* A good understanding of applicable engineering toolsets
