About the Role
The Primary Health Nurse Practitioner delivers advanced clinical practice and provides specialist advice and treatment orders for patients in public prisons.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver advanced clinical care and provide specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team.
* Prescribe medications and manage patient treatment regimes in accordance with GEO Healthcare formulary, policy, and legislation.
* Refer patients to other GEO Healthcare team members and specialist services as clinically indicated.
* Participate in clinical case reviews for complex primary health patients.
* Participate in the GEO Healthcare Medicines and Consumables Committee and other governance committees and working groups.
* Actively contribute to GEO Healthcare's attainment and maintenance of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards accreditation.
* Ensure compliance with the management contract between GEO Healthcare and Justice Health/Corrections Victoria, meeting Primary Healthcare Performance Framework targets.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered Nurse endorsement with AHPRA.
* Nurse Practitioner endorsement with AHPRA.
* Minimum five years of post‐registration clinical experience.
* Ability to work within a prison setting and collaborate with medical officers.
* Successful completion of a National Criminal History Check and ability to obtain a security clearance.
* Willingness to work across multiple locations within the region and outside ordinary business hours.
