As the Biosecurity Stream Leader
You'll take the lead in protecting the North Burnett Region's natural environment and agricultural assets. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll guide and support the Biosecurity team to deliver effective pest management programs, monitor and report on invasive species, and ensure compliance with the
Biosecurity Act ****
. You'll work closely with landholders, community groups, and partner organisations to build awareness, strengthen biosecurity practices, and foster a collaborative approach to natural resource management that supports the region's biodiversity, productivity, and environmental sustainability.
About you
You are an experienced and motivated biosecurity professional with a strong track record in leading teams to deliver effective pest and invasive species management.
You hold a Diploma in Conservation and Land Management (or higher), relevant licences and competencies for the safe use of herbicides, pesticides, and poison baits, and an unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence. You have sound knowledge of the
Biosecurity Act ****
, practical experience in natural resource management, and the ability to implement operational plans, policies, and community engagement strategies.
With excellent people management, communication, and problem-solving skills, you can supervise teams and contractors, coordinate programs, and provide technical advice while maintaining a focus on environmental sustainability, compliance, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and implement biosecurity operational plans, programs, and policies.
Coordinate pest management, surveillance, and control activities across the region.
Provide expert advice to stakeholders and exercise Authorised Officer responsibilities.
Supervise and support team members and contractors to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
Promote community engagement and awareness of biosecurity practices.
Oversee stock route and animal management programs.
Maintain accurate reporting, mapping, and records in line with Council systems.
Lead and implement biosecurity operational plans, programs, and policies.
Coordinate pest management, surveillance, and control activities across the region.
Provide expert advice to stakeholders and exercise Authorised Officer responsibilities.
Supervise and support team members and contractors to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
