About the role
Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer‑facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service to our donors.
You will play a key role in supporting our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided, so all you need is curiosity and motivation to learn how to collect blood and biological products.
A day in the centre could see you:
- Greet and interview potential donors to assess their eligibility and suitability to donate
- Create a donor experience they’ll love and want to come back to
- Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
- Set up machines and collection equipment
- Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood and plasma
- Monitor donors post‑donation and assist them with rebooking their next donation
- Work collaboratively to achieve collection targets
No prior experience in blood collection is needed; our paid and flexible self‑paced training programme combines on‑the‑job practice with online classes.
Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to:
- Be comfortable with needles and blood/biological materials
- Occasionally lift between 9 and 22.7 kg
- Support and foster a fantastic team culture
- Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
- Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster including weekends and afternoon shifts
- Have capacity to travel to relevant training hubs to complete the Inspire Training Programme
Benefits and Wellbeing
We place our employees’ well‑being at the forefront and express gratitude and care for one another. As an Australian Workplace Equality Index‑recognised employer and one of Australia’s menopause‑friendly organisations, we celebrate diversity and support all our people.
You will have access to:
- Minimum 5 weeks annual leave (up to 6 weeks)
- Salary packaging with an option to package up to $15,900 for living expenses and $2,650 for meals and entertainment
- 14 weeks paid parental leave – no waiting period for either parent
