Family Lawyer (3–5 yrs PAE) sought in inner-north Melbourne to handle parenting & property matters, supervise Legal Aid files & build complex case skills.
* Work with lawyers who help, mentor and back each other
* Partners stay involved and support your professional growth
* Flexible hybrid work, great office, 5.5 billable hours/day, community focus
There are two kinds of family law firms.
The first kind spends a lot of time talking about culture. The second kind actually has one.
This is a firm where people eat lunch together. They help each other when files get messy. Partners know what's happening on the ground. Junior lawyers aren't left to sink or swim. And when someone needs support, the team steps in.
Funny how effective that can be.
This role sits within a dedicated family law team led by experienced practitioners who genuinely enjoy teaching. If you're ambitious and willing to learn, you'll find plenty of opportunities to grow here.
What You'll Be Doing
* Managing a broad range of property and parenting matters
* Working on both privately funded and Legal Aid matters
* Supervising Legal Aid work and assisting with file strategy
* Building strong relationships with clients during challenging periods of their lives
* Working closely with experienced lawyers who are available when you need support
* Contributing to a collaborative and team‐oriented practice
The legal profession talks endlessly about development. This firm prefers to do it.
The partners and senior lawyers are accessible, approachable and invested in helping people improve. If you're tackling something you've never done before, you'll have experienced people around you.
A Team That Actually Functions Like One
The culture here isn't built around slogans.
People help each other. Knowledge is shared. Success is celebrated. When a colleague needs assistance, support arrives without needing a committee meeting first.
Flexibility With Common Sense
Most lawyers work from home one or two days each week.
They support flexibility because people have lives outside the office. At the same time, they recognise that learning, mentoring and professional development happen faster when talented lawyers spend time together. The balance depends on the individual and their stage of development.
A Beautiful Office
A landmark building that offers outstanding views, modern facilities and breakout spaces where people actually enjoy spending time together.
This role offers the opportunity to develop into a senior member of the family law team. They reward hard work, initiative and strong client service.
Not politics.
Not who sends emails at 11:47pm.
A Firm Connected To Its Community
They are active in Legal Aid, support numerous community initiatives and maintain a strong commitment to making quality legal services accessible.
