Primary Position Objective
ResMed is leading the way in cloud-connected medical devices that transform care for people with sleep apnea, COPD, and other chronic diseases.
The Precision Tooling (PT) Department is based in Sydney and is part of the Global Moulding Function. We are working to deliver high-quality LSR injection moulds and automation to our internal customers using the latest industrial technology.
The CNC Machinist is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of CNC mills, EDM, and wirecutting machines to produce high-quality parts that meet the manufacturing schedule. The role involves using CAM to create complex toolpaths, troubleshooting machines, and ensuring optimal functioning. CNC Machinists review and validate CAM programs and manufactured parts via CMM inspection.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* CAM programming, creating complex CAM strategies, setup, and safe operation of CNC and precision machining equipment.
* Mould/tool/equipment manufacturing, machining, finishing, assembly, and testing.
* Supporting project teams to define performance specifications and functional requirements for new tooling projects.
* Maintaining accurate documentation of all tasks.
* Following processes and work instructions to ensure safety, repeatability, and quality.
* Using troubleshooting skills to improve processes.
* Analyzing and minimizing risks throughout project lifecycles.
* Ensuring activities comply with legislative, company, and ISO requirements.
* Supporting efficient manufacturing, supply, and support of customer products and tooling.
* Assisting team members to achieve goals and fostering a positive team culture.
* Participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
* Performing and documenting pre-delivery inspections to ensure quality and safety.
* Performing other duties as required.
* Delivering projects on time and within budget, meeting performance, cost, and quality expectations.
* Successfully transferring new moulds, tools, technologies, and processes to manufacturing.
Qualifications and Experience
* At least 5 years' experience creating complex CAM programs for mould tooling.
* At least 5 years' CNC machining experience.
* Broad understanding of CNC machining and cutter technologies.
* Experience with plastics injection moulding.
Preferred Qualifications
* Qualifications in CNC programming, Toolmaking, Machining, or Engineering.
* Minimum 4 years' experience in a Toolmaking environment with relevant CNC programming experience.
