About the role
We’re looking for an Industrial Designer who is technically sharp, creatively curious and thrives in a fast-paced, hands‑on environment. You love solving problems through design, working collaboratively and bringing ideas into the real world with accuracy and craftsmanship.
In this role, you will translate concepts into fully resolved designs, producing technical drawings, specification documents and production‑ready files across a wide range of materials and fabrication methods. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Production, and fellow designers to ensure every build is both beautifully considered and practically achievable.
This role is ideal for a detail‑driven designer with strong CAD skills, a passion for how things are made, and a desire to see your work move from concept to reality.
Your responsibilities
As an Industrial Designer at Boom Studios, you’ll help turn ideas into buildable, beautifully resolved outcomes. You will:
- Interpret concepts and translate them into detailed, production‑ready designs
- Produce clear, accurate technical drawings and documentation for fabrication
- Build and manage 3D models in Fusion360
- Prepare cut files and other production assets using Adobe Illustrator (or similar)
- Work closely with Project Managers, Production and other designers to ensure accuracy, feasibility and quality
- Support prototyping, testing and development of new fabrication methods
- Maintain organised, traceable design and engineering documentation.
Your skills and experience
You’re a technically capable, detail‑minded designer with a solid understanding of how things are made.
Must‑haves
- Strong Fusion360 proficiency
- Ability to produce accurate technical drawings for production
- Experience preparing specification documents (materials, finishes, fixings, production methods)
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator (or similar) for cut‑file creation
- Strong organisational habits and documentation practices.
Nice‑to‑haves
- Familiarity with engineering or compliance requirements
- Experience in signage, retail, events or fabrication‑based environments
- Hands‑on experience with CNC routers, 3D printers or other production tools
- Ability to produce presentation decks in InDesign
- Concept sketching and ideation ability
- Experience using Blender.
Qualifications
- Degree in Industrial Design or Product Design Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
What’s in it for you

Here’s what you can expect:
- A supportive, cooperative team environment with strong staff retention
- The chance to work with leading brands across retail, events and immersive experiences
- A front‑row seat to the full creative process, from concept through to fabrication
- A hands‑on role where you’ll see your ideas come to life in real time
- A conveniently located studio in the heart of Collingwood, close to public transport, cafes and all the good stuff!
