Transport Operations Manager
This is a hands‑on role responsible for the allocation and dispatch of fleet operations, driver supervision, and service performance across a range of specialised transport activities.
You will ensure compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while supporting business growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, allocate and schedule deliveries and pickups in line with customer and legislative requirements
* Manage driver recruitment, onboarding, training, and compliance (including Fatigue and Chain of Responsibility)
* Oversee daily operations including fleet utilisation, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle inspections
* Liaise with workshop, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery
* Monitor and report on operational KPIs, DIFOT performance, and cost efficiencies
* Ensure all staff comply with PPE, load restraint, and safety policies
* Support business development projects, customer service, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
* Strong background in road transport, logistics, or fleet operations
* Proven supervisory experience managing drivers and vehicles across multi-site operations
* Sound understanding of NHVR, Fatigue Management, Chain of Responsibility, and speed legislation
* Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel) and transport management systems (Freightrack experience desirable).
* Energetic, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
