We are looking to welcome a passionate and experienced First XI Head Coach – Cricket to mentor, lead and drive our First XI Cricket program for the 2026-2027 season (September 2026, Term 3 through to March 2027, Term 1).
This role reports directly to the Head of Sport.
As our First XI Head Coach - Cricket, you will play a key role in delivering a strong, inclusive and competitive cricket program that develops both individual talent and team success. You will inspire and guide students to perform at their best on and off the field.
This is a fixed-term, seasonal position with specific hours and days aligned to the Cricket program including pre-season and in-season commitments.
About the Role:
* Lead, coach and manage the First XI Cricket program during pre-season and regular season
* Design and deliver a tailored pre-season program commencing in Term 3, 2026
* Oversee match preparation, game strategy and performance review
* Assist with organising trial matches for the First and Seconds XI Cricket teams
* Attend AIC First XI Cricket Saturday fixtures
* Attend AIC T20 Cup and Oblate Cup fixtures in Term 4, 2026
* Attend all required training sessions and scheduled commitments
* Assist the Cricket Coordinator in reviewing the Iona Cricket vision, philosophy, values and season outline for all AIC Cricket teams across the College
* Assist with the recruitment of coaches
* Attend selection and planning meetings as required
About You:
As a dedicated and competitive Coach, you bring enthusiasm, professionalism and a commitment to player development. This includes:
* Coaching Accreditation through Cricket Australia
* Extensive coaching experience with a 'hands‐on' approach to training with the ability communicate technical knowledge to players to improve individual and team performance
* Experience in team management, selection and tactical knowledge of the game
* Ability to inspire, motivate and guide young athletes
* Experience using Sport Session Planner
* Exemplary professional conduct
* Ideally, experienced at coaching in a school environment (desirable, not essential)
* Supportive of the values of Catholic education
* A holder of a Working with Children (Blue Card) or eligibility to apply
