Lorien Novalis Steiner School is inviting applications for the position of Class Five Teacher to guide children through to Class Seven.
Nestled in lush bushlands and landscaped gardens in Dural, we have been offering a holistic well-established Steiner curriculum for over 50 years and have built a strong reputation for creative and engaging education.
The class has benefitted from a firm foundation of four years with an experienced and competent class teacher. This position calls for a teacher to take on the remaining years of Primary school.
We seek someone who has taught in a Steiner school or has training in Steiner Education and is willing to work with the pedagogical indications of Rudolf Steiner and Lorien Novalis' ethos.
The teacher will work closely with colleagues, specialist teachers and leaders to deliver a learning program that provides a wide range of educational experiences in keeping with the school's curriculum.
* Ability to create a nurturing learning environment.
* Passionate for storytelling as a form of teaching.
* Drawing on imaginative approaches to teaching academic subjects through inspiring methods to inspire a love of learning.
* Talent in, or willingness to develop skills in, arts such as painting, drawing, speech, eurythmy, music and drama and using these to underpin lesson topics.
* Skills in soft and/or hard handcrafts.
* Ability to guide children in camping and outdoor activities as part of the outdoor education program.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
* A strong commitment to the principles and philosophy of Steiner Education, demonstrated through relevant experience and/or a willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning and development in Steiner Education.
* Involvement in specialised areas of the school's cultural life (festivals, fairs, information and open days)
* Teach in accordance with the school's curriculum.
* Work collegially and collaboratively with other teachers and staff as part of the vibrant learning community.
* Demonstrate a high level of oral and interpersonal skills, appreciating the importance of discretion, tact and confidentiality in dealing with staff, parents, students and the public at all levels.
* Qualifications and approval to teach in NSW with NESA accreditation.
* Hold a current WWCC.
