Program Manager (Bethesda, MD)
Program Manager for our Bethesda, MD team.
Description of Duties
* The function of the Program Manager is to ensure that staff assigned to each position are trained and proficient in such a way that the work is accomplished in accordance with SOPs, policies and guidelines associated with the expectations of their position.
* This person is expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, personnel and issues within LARCs 2, 6, 7, 13.1, 13.2 & 28.
* We expect the Deputy Manager to be forward-thinking and create and assist in developing plans to enhance the learning abilities and performance of the staff working on assigned contract.
* Interface with customers to provide resolutions to operational issues/concerns in a timely manner.
* Maintain an effective level of communication with Division Director and corporate personnel.
* Conduct facility Quality Control inspections.
* Assist Program Manager in overseeing the supervision of facility managers, trainer, technicians and animal care staff and assist in preparation of their annual performance appraisals.
* Assist with technical training, re-training, and cross training where and when needed according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Work with LARC trainer to identify and prioritize topics for technical training.
* Ensure each employee is proficient and in compliance with current facility SOPs.
* Assist in new hires, transfers from other positions, or changes in job descriptions.
* Participate in interviews and selection of personnel.
* Distribute reports as needed to institutional contacts.
* Always think safety first when performing daily duties.
* Ensure the safety, security, and physical environment for all personnel.
* Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facilities to Program Manager as well as the clients when required.
* Perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Division Director.
* Available to work the hours of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm M-F, in addition you will be expected to work extra hours during an emergency or if any unexpected situation arise until work is completed.
Required Experience
* Must have a AS/BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
* Must have 7 years' experience in laboratory animal facility in the husbandry, technical areas, at least 5 years in a supervisory role with 2 years of training employee development preferred.
* The Deputy Project Manager must possess strong verbal communication, teaching skills and be knowledgeable of veterinary medical terminology and all aspects animal facility operations.
* AALAS Certification at the LATG Level and CMAR is highly recommended.
