About the role
As a Graduate Landscape Architect reporting to the Design Manager, you will help shape Melbourne’s public spaces and streetscapes. In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of projects that align with the City of Melbourne’s endorsed strategies, plans, and guidelines—making a real impact on how people experience the city.
You will work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team alongside landscape architects, urban designers, architects, and industrial designers, gaining exposure to projects of varying scales and stages. From creating new open spaces and upgrading streetscapes to developing masterplans and strategic frameworks, this role offers opportunities to learn, grow, and refine your design skills.
Community engagement is a key part of the work, and you will support consultation processes to ensure designs reflect the needs of Melbourne’s diverse communities and stakeholders.

What your experience might look like
- A relevant tertiary qualification to degree level in landscape architecture and eligibility for Graduate Membership of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects
- Relevant and demonstrable work experience, preferably related to projects of varying complexity in a large and diverse organisation with multiple stakeholders
- Strong relationship building skills and strong analytical, lateral thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to take the initiative
- High level written, visual and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey and effectively impart project information and to influence outcomes
Desirable
- Computer literacy in word processing and other standard office software, and a high standard of competency in computer drawing packages including AutoCAD, and desktop publishing software (Adobe Suite). Familiarity with other software packages applicable to 2D and 3D design communication and documentation are desirable.
