About the role
The Riverine Grazier and Back Country Bulletin are two of the Riverina's most trusted regional publications. We're looking for a part-time sales partner to help local businesses connect with our readers through print and digital advertising.
This is a flexible, commission-based role with a weekly base payment to get you started. You'll be working around 10–20 hours per week, and the exact shape of that time is largely up to you.
No previous sales experience is needed. If you know the region, enjoy talking with people, and can follow up reliably, we'll give you everything else.
Ideally, our partners will be based in the region.
What you'll be doing
* Reaching out to local businesses (from cafes and retailers to agricultural suppliers and service providers) to discuss advertising opportunities in our publications
* Building ongoing relationships with clients across towns including Griffith, Deniliquin, Swan Hill, and Mildura
* Making contact primarily by phone and email; occasional in-person visits are welcome but not required
* Keeping simple, organised records of your clients and conversations using our shared tools (we'll walk you through our system)
* Working from planned upcoming special editions and themed issues as natural conversation starters. We'll give you a schedule in advance so you always have something relevant to lead with
* Drawing on a ready-made list of existing contacts from day one, so you're never starting cold
What's in it for you
* Flexible hours. Work around your existing commitments, your lifestyle, or other jobs
* Weekly base payment. A reliable starting point while you build your client base
* Commission-based earnings. Higher rates apply on selected clients and industries as you grow
* We handle the creative. Our team produces all the ad artwork so your focus stays on the relationship
* Office access. Work from home or drop into our base when you want a desk, a printer, or a conversation
* A ready-made pipeline. Existing contacts and a forward schedule of themed issues or major stories to help you open doors
You'll do well in this role if you...
* Enjoy conversations and feel comfortable picking up the phone or walking into a local business
* Know the Riverina. Understanding the region and its communities is genuinely useful here
* Can stay organised across a small number of ongoing client relationships
* Are comfortable with everyday digital tools: email, a shared spreadsheet, and a cloud folder
* Care about regional communities and want your work to have a visible, local impact
* Are looking for work that fits around your life, not the other way around
Previous experience in sales, advertising, or media is a bonus, not a requirement.
The impact
By joining us, you're helping local businesses reach the customers who matter most to them and contributing to the future of independent, community-owned journalism in rural NSW. The stories we tell depend on the relationships you build.
