Deputy Principal – Claremont Special School

Join the Queensland Department of Education to administer Claremont Special School, a progressive learning environment dedicated to supporting students with disabilities. The role is set to start on 22 January 2026 and end on 26 June 2026 unless otherwise determined.

We are seeking two exceptional Deputy Principals to focus on improving student outcomes, enhancing teaching quality, and fostering positive relationships among students, staff, the community, and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the delivery of high‑quality teaching and learning programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum and individual student plans.
* Drive school improvement initiatives focused on literacy, communication, wellbeing, and engagement.
* Provide instructional leadership to teachers and support staff, ensuring evidence‑based practices and inclusive education principles.
* Build strong partnerships with families, community organisations, and external agencies to enhance student outcomes.
* Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
* Model and promote a positive, safe, and respectful school culture.


Skills, Qualifications & Experience

* Current Queensland teacher registration and eligibility for employment as a school leader.
* Current or previous experience as a Deputy Principal in a Special School.
* Demonstrated success in leading teams and improving student outcomes in diverse educational settings.
* Strong knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment practices, including differentiation for students with disabilities.
* Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict‑resolution skills.
* Have made a positive impact on school‑wide student learning outcomes through leadership in the area of PBL.
* Ability to lead change and manage complex operational and strategic priorities.


Nice‑to‑Have Skills & Experience

* Experience with the Team Teach approach to support student wellbeing and behaviour.
* Familiarity with assistive technology, augmentative communication, and inclusive practices.
* Background in coaching and mentoring teachers.
