About the Role
As a Bunnings Operations Manager you will be responsible for the ongoing daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within your store. You will report directly to the Complex Manager and oversee a team of 180+ staff. Your role is to be efficient, organised and the go-to location for our loyal customers and internal sales teams.
You will lead a team that includes Department Managers, Supervisors, Team Members and Forklift Drivers, and will be encouraged to engage with local stores, Trade and Distribution Centres to contribute to the success of the wider area group.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of 50+ direct reports and perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends.
* Engage in regular safety walks and audits, fostering open conversations about risk and coaching safe behaviours across the warehouse.
* Monitor department performance against sales, margin and wage targets and implement improvement plans where required.
* Identify opportunities to drive sales through merchandising & strategic planning by supporting and developing Department Managers through regular coaching and performance feedback.
* Drive stock accuracy routines, oversee adjustments, lead investigations into discrepancies, and provide strong leadership across all stocktake activities.
* Monitor key metrics for Customer Satisfaction and Team Engagement, driving ownership and results.
* Ensure safety and wellbeing compliance while driving sales and delivering the Best Experience through your team.
* Manage your warehouse stock levels, sales capabilities, safety and wellbeing compliance, and coordinate with Commercial Sales teams, Distribution Centres, Fulfilment Centres and Bunnings Support Office.
* Provide a minimum of 1 in 3 weekend roster and accommodate some public holiday work.
Qualifications
* Experience leading a team of 50+ members and leaders in a high-volume, safety-focused environment.
* Previous experience in retail or a large customer-focused organisation.
* Passion for a Safe & Secure warehouse demonstrated through safety walks, audits and coaching.
* Strong understanding of retail sales, margin and wage targets.
* Ability to coach and develop Department Managers and team members to lift capability and drive performance.
* Experience leading stock integrity, including accuracy routines, investigations and stocktake.
* Ability to drive results through Customer Satisfaction and Team Engagement metrics.
* Knowledge of DIY/Building industry is recommended, but not mandatory.
