About the Role
The Senior Cyber Security Engineer is a critical role, responsible for protecting Alfred Health’s information systems and networks from cyber threats and vulnerabilities and supporting the successful implementation of Alfred Health Cyber Security Strategy and Action plan. The engineer will develop, maintain and execute the Digital Health Cybersecurity strategy, centralise and automate security operations technology and processes, and manage staff, contractors, partners, third‑party and patient electronic identities and access to Alfred Health’s systems and data.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage security tools and technologies.
* Participate in incident response activities and investigations.
* Monitor and analyse security logs.
* Collaborate with IT teams on secure configurations.
* Conduct regular security audits.
* Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
* Ensure adequate controls are designed and implemented to minimise Cyber Security risks.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in IT, Cybersecurity and/or relevant hand‑on industry experience.
* Five (5)+ years of experience in cyber security, focusing on cyber security engineering.
* Strong knowledge of security principles, technologies and best practices, including network security, encryption, authentication and access control.
* Certification and/or relevant experience in SecOps and Incident Response, and in on‑premises hosted and cloud‑based technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
* Demonstrated experience implementing and using various technology and security solutions and architecture.
* Demonstrated coding experience in SecOps automation and malware analysis during Incident Response investigations.
* Familiarity with security frameworks and standards, including the Information Security Manual (ISM), Essential 8, ISO27001, NIST, CBCF, PSPF and CIS Critical Security Controls.
* Solid understanding of network protocols, operating systems and web application security.
* Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
