About the Opportunity

The Principal Inspector contributes to the management of SafeWork SA's service delivery by providing mentoring, coaching and advisory support to team members. The incumbent operates within a politically sensitive environment to address a range of complex organisational, operational and staff issues. The Principal Inspector assists in the development and maintenance of safe, fair and productive working lives and high standards of public safety for all South Australians.

About the Business

SafeWork SA (SWSA) is responsible for providing work, health and safety, public safety and state‐based industrial relations services across South Australia. As a regulator, Investigators and Inspectors ensure work, health and safety, and public safety standards are met, and appropriate action is taken when breaches of laws are detected.

Key Responsibilities

The Principal Inspector contributes to the management of safe, fair and productive working lives and high standards of public safety for all South Australians, and operates within a politically sensitive environment to address complex organisational, operational and staff issues.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory.
* Employment‐related screening check required.
* Must hold a current Australian‐issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
* Some out‐of‐hours work may be required.
* Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
* The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working, including part‐time.
