Job Summary
Siesta Cafe is currently seeking an experienced and motivated full-time Cook to join our busy kitchen team in Mordialloc, Melbourne. Siesta Cafe is a well-established, family‐owned café known for its quality breakfast and lunch menu, specialty coffee and strong European/Turkish‐inspired food offerings. We are seeking a reliable team player who thrives in a fast‐paced café environment and is passionate about producing high‐quality meals and maintaining excellent kitchen standards.
Roster and Working Hours
Rotating roster across seven days, including weekends and public holidays, working collaboratively with other kitchen staff.
Cafe trading hours: Monday – Friday: 6:00am – 5:00pm, Saturday: 6:30am – 5:00pm, Sunday: 7:00am – 5:00pm.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Preparing, cooking and presenting a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch meals
* Preparing and cooking food in accordance with specialised recipes and customer dietary requirements
* Assisting with menu planning and development
* Monitoring food quality, portion control and presentation standards
* Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards in line with relevant regulations
* Checking and storing stock and assisting with stock rotation
* Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
* Working effectively within a busy team environment during peak service periods
* Assisting with maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant qualifications and/or minimum two years' experience as a Cook
* Experience working in a busy café setting
* Experience preparing a wide‐ranging breakfast and brunch menu
* Previous experience working in cafés with European and/or Middle Eastern influence will be highly regarded
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
* Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays
Compensation
Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
