Sr Investigative News Reporter Role
We are seeking a highly skilled News Reporter to join our newsroom at 10 News First, a dynamic and fast-moving team within a powerful multi-platform network.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Sydney. As part of a collaborative newsroom culture that values bold ideas, journalistic integrity, and creativity, you'll have the opportunity to be at the forefront of a news brand, chasing leads, uncovering facts, and producing compelling, high-impact television news stories that shape the national conversation.
You will work independently with the support of your colleagues, reporting live on breaking news events, pitching, researching, and producing original, high-quality news stories for broadcast.
Main Responsibilities:
* Pitch, research, and produce original, high-quality news stories for broadcast, ensuring comprehensive and dynamic coverage.
* Work under tight deadlines to deliver clear, accurate, and engaging TV news content.
* Report live with confidence on breaking news events.
* Take the lead on complex news stories, from concept to broadcast, with minimal supervision.
* Proactively source and line up stories.
Requirements:
* Strong news judgment and a deep understanding of the TV news landscape.
* Exceptional communication skills—both on-air and behind the scenes.
* Ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate editorial decisions.
* Proven track record in television news reporting.
* In-depth knowledge of local, national, and international current affairs.
* Proficiency in non-linear editing systems, with experience in TV news production.
* Flexibility to work across different shifts, including weekends, to meet newsroom demands.
* Strong grasp of media law and its application in news reporting.
