Executive Director - Quality and Patient Safety
Salary: $170,409 to $188,400 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
The Department of Health has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight for Safety, Quality, Risk and Service programs across Hospitals North, supporting multiple sites including Launceston General Hospital and Primary Health North.
The Role
We seek an individual who embodies Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (CARE) to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of quality and patient safety systems within a strong clinical governance framework, ensuring evidence‐based and organisation‐wide high‐quality care.
As part of the Executive Team, the Executive Director will provide strategic leadership, expert advice and operational oversight for quality, safety, risk, accreditation and continuous improvement systems across clinical and non‐clinical services. Key responsibilities include:
* Providing high‐level advice and strategic leadership on clinical governance, accreditation, and patient safety.
* Leading the implementation of NSQHS Standards and National Aged Care Quality Standards across Hospitals North.
* Driving improvement methodologies across multiple projects to strengthen systems, processes and outcomes.
* Leading the Quality & Patient Safety Program and supporting statewide directions set by the Department of Health.
* Providing expert advice to the Chief Executive of Hospitals North on clinical governance, risk, accreditation and patient safety matters.
* Building a positive, safe organisational culture aligned with values, child‐safe principles and contemporary governance expectations.
* Representing Hospitals North at regional, statewide and national forums on clinical governance, accreditation and safety matters.
Details of appointment
* Permanent, full‐time, day‐worker position.
* Hours: 76 hours per fortnight (subject to negotiation).
* Commencement: 1 June 2026 (negotiable).
Salary and Benefits
* Salary range: $170,409 to $188,400 per annum (including 12% superannuation).
