As an Instructional Designer, you will support the design and development of high-quality, accessible and inclusive learning experiences within Deakin's learning management system, Brightspace. Working closely with learning designers, academic staff and other stakeholders, you will apply established learning design principles to review and enhance digital learning resources, with a strong focus on accessibility, quality and student experience. This role requires strong organisational, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills to manage competing priorities, coordinate design activities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support consistent practice across teams, and use Deakin-endorsed AI tools responsibly to enhance efficient, human-centred design processes. As an Instructional Designer, you will: Plan, prioritise and coordinate work activities and projects to deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and constraints. Analyse information, identify key issues and investigate solutions to support effective decision-making and problem-solving. Build productive relationships with stakeholders, communicating clearly and providing practical, outcomes-focused advice. Monitor progress, identify barriers and implement appropriate strategies to achieve objectives and improve outcomes. Contribute to continuous improvement through feedback, knowledge sharing and supporting colleagues with guidance and constructive input. To be successful, you’ll have: Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience in instructional design, learning design or a related field. Demonstrated experience applying evidence-based instructional design principles and accessibility standards to develop high-quality learning experiences. Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes. Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with experience working across teams and providing professional advice. Experience designing learning resources in Brightspace or similar learning management systems, with knowledge of student learning, quality assurance processes, governance requirements and the ethical use of AI technologies.
