About Us

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Role

In this role you will be supporting the Human Resources Manager with a range of generalist functions across the organisation. Supported by the HR Officers and HR Administrator you will have an operational focus on all aspects of the employment life cycle from recruitment to offboarding.

You will use your experience to provide comprehensive advice to managers and employees based on legislation, industrial and best practice.

In collaboration with the Human Resources Manager, you will contribute to the development and implementation planning of the Human Resources strategy, associated frameworks and operational plans to increase workforce recruitment and retention.

You will also be involved in maintaining our compliance with relevant legislation and the updating of policies and procedures.

Whilst not essential, previous experience with ELMO HRIS would be an advantage.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Tertiary qualifications in a Human Resources or relevant Business discipline
* At least 3 years' experience in a HR generalist role, preferably within a complex multi-site, culturally diverse workforce setting.
* Experience managing employee relations including, but not limited to, performance management, misconduct, attendance issues and grievances.
* Experience guiding and coaching managers to develop employees and monitor performance in order to achieve strategic objectives.
* An understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
* Sound interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence at senior and operational levels to secure appropriate support, decisions or outcomes.
Mandatory Requirements
* Tertiary qualification in a Human Resources or relevant Business discipline.
* Queensland Drivers Licence
* Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
* Willingness to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check prior to commencement.
* Must be willing and able to travel across Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD as required.
