Role Overview
Portland Aluminium is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join its Technical team in a permanent role on a family-friendly Monday–Friday roster. The role focuses on monitoring process variables, driving improvements, leading investigations, and enhancing plant operations, efficiency and product quality within the assigned area.
Responsibilities
* Monitor process variables and ensure compliance with operational goals
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead investigations into process anomalies
* Enhance plant operations, efficiency and product quality
* Secure capital investment by developing and updating production upgrade and cost reduction plans
* Improve smelter efficiency through standard methodologies and daily management practices
* Support production growth and technical improvements through process problem‐solving and plant trials
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering (or related discipline)
* Experience in process plant operations
* Strong communication skills across all business levels
* Ability to develop and maintain effective process management systems
* Commitment to environmental, health and safety standards
* Pro‐active problem‐solving skills and initiative in continuous improvement

Location
The Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day‐to‐day operations at the smelter and produces approximately 19% of Australia's total aluminium production in Portland.
