Empowering Young Lives
The role of Youth Worker is a vital part of our Community Development and Engagement team, where you will play a key role in supporting young people aged 12-24 across the Wollongong Local Government Area.
You will work side-by-side with youth to ensure they are heard, valued, and included. This role involves delivering targeted programs, providing support and advocacy, and fostering youth participation in decision-making.
We are seeking casual staff who are flexible with their working hours, able to be called upon at short notice, including shift work (day, evenings and weekends) and may be located at any of the locations within Council's Youth Services, dependant on operational requirements.
This position requires a paid Working With Children Check under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
About You
* You are deeply committed to supporting young people and creating inclusive, empowering environments.
* You bring a strong foundation in building trust and fostering positive relationships through qualifications in youth work, first aid certification, and hands-on experience working directly with young people.
* You communicate effectively, solve problems with empathy and clarity, and thrive in collaborative team settings.
You must hold a current NSW Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain one. A solid understanding of youth-related legislation and mandatory reporting requirements is also essential.
