Light Rail Operations is responsible for overseeing the successful operation of light rail by our contracted partner Canberra Metro and ensuring that the responsibilities of both the Territory and Canberra Metro, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement, are achieved.
The Director, Operations and Performance in the Light Rail Operations team is responsible for leading the assurance and management of Canberra Metro's operations and performance activities. The role is responsible for overseeing the functions of service delivery, customer experience, community engagement, communications, operational rail safety and legislation, and future network planning in an operational environment.
Eligibility / Other requirements
Rail operations knowledge in a complex operational/contractual environment or other public transport or complex operations experience is highly desirable.
Understanding of the complexity of managing outsourced operational contracts in Public Private Partnerships or partnering arrangements is desirable.
Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act **** is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
This position may be required to participate in drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance with Rail Safety National Law as part of Canberra Metro's safety requirements.
This position does not require a Security Clearance.

This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
