About the Role
As a Security Officer, you will provide responsive and professional security services across the Newcastle Pharmacotherapy Service and surrounding facilities. You will ensure the safety of staff, clients, visitors, and property while contributing to a positive, supportive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and duress alarms using a calm, trauma‐informed approach
* Support staff in managing challenging situations through de‐escalation and conflict resolution strategies
* Conduct patrols, safety inspections, and security checks throughout the facility
* Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems
* Maintain accurate incident reports and security documentation
* Deliver exceptional customer service to staff, clients, and visitors
* Undertake administrative duties relevant to the role
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
What You'll Bring
You are a reliable and resilient security professional with excellent communication skills and a strong customer‐focused approach. Calm under pressure, confident responding to aggressive, distressed, or vulnerable individuals with empathy and professionalism.
* Current NSW Security Licence 1A
* Certificate II in Security Operations
* Senior First Aid Certificate
* Current Class C Driver Licence (NSW eligible)
* Ability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
Key Qualifications
* Proven experience working in security, ideally in healthcare or high‐pressure environments
* Strong customer service skills with minimal supervision
* Experience responding appropriately to challenging situations using de‐escalation and conflict resolution techniques
* Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* Understanding of security policies, procedures, and safe work practices
* Experience operating surveillance, CCTV, alarms, and electronic monitoring systems
* Excellent communication skills and remain calm under pressure while supporting staff, patients, and visitors
