The Reservoir Leisure Centre’s Aquatic Education Program is designed to improve swimming ability, fitness and aquatic safety awareness for participants, while providing social engagement and accommodating a wide range of abilities.

The Reservoir Leisure Service Swim Instructor has a key role in ensuring the suitability of aquatic education lessons for participants, delivering experiences that encourage ongoing participation and ensuring safety in the Centre’s swim program.

- Casual
- Hourly rate of $44.25 inclusive of 25% casual loading

About the Role

- Provide reports to guardians on children’s progress throughout the school term
- Attend and actively participate in all team meetings, trainings and workshops
- Keep qualifications (AUSTSWIM License, Swimming Australia or Lifesaving Victoria Swimming and Water Safety Teacher, CPR and Working with Children Check) updated as per GSPO recommendations
- Update class lists as necessary and regularly assess skills attained by the class participants
- Continually engage with program participants and their families, providing ongoing feedback on skill development
- Assess participants’ swimming ability and develop strategies to ensure appropriate skill progression
- Provide regular reports to parents and the Program Leader Swim School on progress of all participants
- Implement appropriate learning styles and activities to ensure active engagement in the lesson

Skills & Experience

- AUSTSWIM Swimming and Water Safety qualification or Lifesaving Victoria Swimming and Water Safety Teacher qualification
- Current Working with Children Check
- Infants and Preschools, Access and Inclusion, and Adults qualifications desirable
