Are you passionate about education and looking for a meaningful volunteer Board opportunity? Akademeia Ltd is seeking an experienced Board Secretary to join the Board of Pinnacle Academic College, an innovative primary school in South-East Queensland.
About us
Pinnacle Academic College is a small, non-religious, community-based primary school located in Kallangur on Brisbane's northside. We welcome students from all walks of life and offer flexible, personalised education both on campus and through distance education, with a popular hybrid model also available.
Our dedicated teachers work closely with families to nurture confidence, curiosity and independence in young learners. We have been approved to commence high school in 2027 and are excited to expand our educational services.
About the role
The Board e-meets monthly in the evening (usually the second Wednesday) to oversee the governance of Pinnacle Academic College, with additional communication as needed between meetings.
This is an unremunerated volunteer position. Pre-approved expenses, including professional development, will be reimbursed.
Qualifications
* Must be a QLD resident
* Must hold or be eligible to hold a QLD Blue Card
* Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to the profession involved desirable
* Membership of a relevant professional body
Experience
* 5+ years' experience as a Board Secretary (experience with Board Pro would be advantageous)
* 10+ years' experience in a financial management, legal or grant funding role
* Previous Board experience (essential)
* Formal governance qualifications (e.g. AICD Directors' Course or equivalent) an advantage
* Budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning experience
* Experience working in or with an educational organisation (preferred but not mandatory)
Skills and knowledge
* Collaborative and respectful communicator
* Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with Board members, management and external stakeholders
* High level of attention to detail
* Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
